What is Surya Namaskar?

Suryanamaskaram-otherwise called the Sun Salutation consists of flowering series of 12 poses which help to improve strength and flexibility of the muscles and spine. This set of exercises can be practiced on varying levels of awareness, ranging from that of physical exercise in various styles, to complete sadhana which incorporates asana pranayana, mantra and chakra mediation.

Surya namaskar is usually performed early in the morning, at day break, or in the evening, when the sun is setting. Suryanamaskaras are performed while chanting mantras and it should be accompanied by specific breathing patterns.

It is as highly effective yoga therapy which contributes to mental, emotional and physical comfort of the individual. It is otherwise called Sun Salutation and it consists of set of 12 dynamic exercises.

Suryanamaskaram should be performed only an empty stomach. It is usually performed in the early morning or in the evening.  The mantras chanted during this yoga are certain chakras corresponding to each aasna. Surya namaskara is an appreciated exercise among people of all ages from children to old age people.
