Takra dhara

Takra means butter milk and dhara means pouring. Takra dhara is a specialized Ayurvedic treatment method in which medicated buttermilk is continuously poured over the centre of forehead in a specialized manner. The patient will lie down in the wood basin after applying the head and body with specially made medicated oils.  The patient should keep his head in a slightly elevated position by using a pillow. Eyes are then closed with cotton and long strip of cloth is bound round the head. A therapist supervises the movement of Dharaapatra (vessel containing butter milk) and flow of the medicine. The treatment can last from one week to three weeks. It relieves tension and cure and certain types of skin diseases as well.  At time the excessive secretion of Cortisol which is produced by stress causes rise in blood levels of glucose. This may be reduced due to the relaxation effect of Takara dhara.
