The literal meaning of the word Ayurveda is “knowledge of life”. It is an ancient Indian holistic medical system, which is known for the past 5000 years. As per Ayurveda, everything on this planet consists of five fundamental elements: earth, water, fire, air and space. Each individual has a particular combination of these five elements. Disease develops when we are detached from nature, when we forget where we come from and who we genuinely are. Ayurveda teaches us to understand our unique composition, so we know which diet, physical activities, yoga poses, etc are best for us.
