What is Chikungunya ?

Chikungunya is a disease caused by a virus that spreads through mosquito bites. The virus is spread through Aedes aegypti mosquito. The most common signs of Chikungunya are fever and joint pain. The pain may last for a few days or may be prolonged to weeks. In some patients with chikungunya, neurological and heart complications have been reported. In older people, chikungunya can contribute to the cause of the death. Chikungunya shares some clinical signs with dengue , and often it misdiagnosed in areas where dengue is frequent.
